Psychosis is a form of mental illness that affects millions of people around the world. One of the most difficult experiences for me is not understanding if things I am hearing or seeing are real or not. Yes, I hear voices and have hallucinations. Some of which can be very scary. Most of them are not dangerous however, on occasion I have hallucinations and delusions that people are telling me to harm myself and those are the times when the psychosis is scary for me.This book is being shared to provide a first hand experience of what living with psychosis can be like for someone.

There may be content in this book that is graphic in nature and therefore inappropriate for persons under 18 years of age. My experiences have not been edited for this book therefore some of them will seem very intense and scary. It is not my intent to scare the reader but more to inform the reader of what the experience of having a psychotic episode is like. It is my goal people can read this and put themselves in the shoes of someone who has psychotic episodes and begin to understand that person on a greater level. We know that autism is a social disorder.

It affects an individuals ability to connect and form meaningful relationships. Often times it causes an individual to be severely misunderstood and ostracized. Sometimes, in the most severe scenarios it can cause a persons family relationships to dimminush as people become impatient with the individual on the autism spectrum or fail to understand the individual. We live in a society that believes it is easier and more convenient to distance ourselves from someone who seems weird or different than we are.

This ideaology causes us to isolate and ostracize individuals who may not be able to help that they are coming off as weird, strange, or creepy. These individuals who in most cases mean society or no-one in society any harm at all are being misunderstood and labeled causing them to carry a huge burden along with them and all of the other things that they are dealing with in life. This burden certainly does not do anything to ease the depression or anxiety and can indeed magnify it and make it much worse.

Being isolated can cause a person to believe that there is something severely wrong with them. That person can begin to lose confidence and see their self-esteem vanish in a flash. What few things that were once exciting about their life can start to fade away off into the distance all because the persons inability to communicate on a social level with other human beings and show the world who they are.

People on the autism spectrum are often labeled because of this misunderstanding. Something we as a society need to continue to work on so that we can ensure individuals living with autism a life full of equality, love, and protection. This book is all about what psychosis is to me and how it affects my life. You will read about my hallucinations, delusions, and the voices I hear. It is intended to be informal and educational.

Some content in this book may not be suitable for persons under the age of 18 due to the graphic content descriptions of my hallucinations, delusions, and voices.
